RPX appointed Andrew D. Africk to its Board of Directors effective July 14, 2016.  Mr. Africk has over 20 years of corporate management and director experience. Africk founded Searay Capital LLC, a private investment company, in 2013.  He previously spent 21 years at Apollo Global Management LLC, an alternative asset management firm, including as a senior partner responsible for Apollo's investments in technology and communications such as Apollo's purchases of Intelsat Ltd. (a global provider of commercial satellite services) and Hughes Communications, Inc. (a leading provider of satellite technology).  Africk is currently a director of SunCoke Energy, Inc. Africk has a Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and holds an MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.  In addition, Africk holds a BA in Economics, summa cum laude, from the University of California at Los Angeles.

Prior to joining RPX in October 2010, Mr. Roberts was General Counsel of Linden Lab where he was responsible for managing the legal department and advising the company’s board and management on legal issues and corporate governance matters.  Before joining Linden Lab, he was Deputy General Counsel of eBay Inc., where he managed regulatory affairs and legal operations.

Previously, he was General Counsel of Shopping.com, where he helped lead the company through its IPO and subsequent acquisition by eBay, and of LookSmart, where he handled the company’s IPO and many corporate transactions.  Earlier in his career, he was Senior Counsel for the PMI Group and for Fair Isaac Corporation.

Mr. Roberts received his law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law and a BA from the University of Virginia.

Shelby Bonnie is a managing director of Allen & Company, an investment firm. Previously, Mr. Bonnie was a co-founder of CNET Networks, Inc. and was at CNET as both an executive and member of the board of directors from 1993 to 2006. Prior to joining CNET, Mr. Bonnie held positions at Tiger Management Corporation, a New York-based investment management firm, Lynx Capital, a private equity fund, and at Morgan Stanley.

Mr. Bonnie received a BS from the University of Virginia and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

RPX appointed Frank E. Dangeard to its Board of Directors effective April 24, 2014. Mr. Dangeard brings more than 20 years of experience as a senior executive in the technology and business services industries. He serves on the Board of Directors of Symantec, Atari, and Telenor, and is currently the Managing Partner of Harcourt. From September 2004 to February 2008, he was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Thomson S.A. From 2002 to September 2004, he was Senior Executive Vice President of France Telecom. Mr. Dangeard joined Thomson multimedia in 1997 as Senior Executive Vice President, and was appointed Vice Chairman in 2000. Prior to joining Thomson multimedia, he was managing director of SG Warburg & Co. Ltd and Chairman of SG Warburg France. Before joining SG Warburg, Mr. Dangeard was a lawyer with Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in New York and London.

Mr. Dangeard graduated from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales, the Paris Institut d’Etudes Politiques and from Harvard Law School.

Mr. Fingerhood brings more than 25 years of experience as an entrepreneur, investor and senior executive in the technology and business services industries. In his current role as Managing Partner of Technology Opportunity Partners, L.P., Mr. Fingerhood leads a private investment partnership that makes concentrated investments in software and technology-enabled service companies. Before co-founding Technology Opportunity Partners, Mr. Fingerhood founded Zero Gravity Technologies Corporation, which developed document security solutions, and served as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer until its sale to InterTrust Technologies Corporation. Prior to that, Mr. Fingerhood founded and was Chief Executive Officer of Direct Language Communications, Inc., a provider of localization services to the technology industry. Mr. Fingerhood holds a JD from Harvard Law School and an AB from Harvard University.

RPX appointed Gilbert S. Palter to its Board of Directors effective May 26, 2016.  He is also a member of the Board's Compensation Committee.  Mr. Palter has a 20-year track record of value creation in private equity as the Co-Founder and Chief Investment Officer of EdgeStone Capital Partners, one of Canada's leading private equity firms.  Mr. Palter is a graduate of the University of Toronto and the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration, as a Baker Scholar.  He has served as a director and as Chair of numerous public and private company boards, and currently serves on the boards of Atlantic Power Corporation, EdgeStone Capital Partners Inc., Aurigen Reinsurance Limited, Specialty Commerce Corp., Eurospec Manufacturing Inc., Stephenson's Equipment Rental, and Tunnel Hill Partners, LP.

Sanford Robertson pioneered the creation of West Coast technology banking as an industry in the late 1960s and has remained one of the industry's most renowned participants. He served as vice president and director at Smith Barney before founding a firm that later became Montgomery Securities. In 1978, he founded Robertson, Stephens & Co, one of the most significant underwriters of IPOs, mergers, and acquisitions. After selling the company in 1998, he founded Francisco Partners, the world's largest technology-focused private equity fund. Robertson has had significant financing involvement in over 500 growth technology companies, including 3Com (NASDAQ: COMS), America Online (NYSE: AOL), Applied Materials (NASDAQ: AMAT), Ascend, Dell Computer (NASDAQ: DELL), E*Trade (NYSE: ET), Siebel, and Sun (NASDAQ: SUNW). He serves on the boards of Dolby Laboratories, Pain Therapeutics (NASDAQ: PTIE), and the Schwab Fund for Charitable Giving, as well as on the President's Board at the University of Michigan.

Mallun Yen is Executive Vice President of RPX Corporation.  RPX appointed Ms. Yen to its Board of Directors effective April 12, 2017.

Ms. Yen joined RPX following an eight-year career at Cisco where, as Vice President of Worldwide Intellectual Property and Deputy General Counsel, she was responsible for developing and implementing the Fortune 100 company’s strategy to protect, enhance, defend, and capture the value of its intellectual property.  She was the technology giant’s second intellectual property attorney and built a group of over two dozen senior industry professionals with responsibility for all patent, copyright and trademark strategy, development, prosecution, disputes, licensing, acquisitions, marketplace, and policy, as well as patent pools and standards-related matters.  She is credited with transforming Cisco’s approach to IP from being primarily defensive to one closely aligned with business objectives and providing competitive differentiation, which marked the company’s transformation into a global IP leader.

Ms. Yen chairs the advisory board of the Berkeley Center for Law and Technology at UC Berkeley Law School and currently serves on the advisory board for Stanford Law School’s Center for Law, Science and Technology, as well as on the Executive Committee of the Association of Corporate Patent Counsel.  She is a founding board member of ChIPs, an organization dedicated to the advancement, mentoring and retention of women in the IP field.  She is a frequent invited speaker on a wide range of topics, including IP strategy, patent best practices, patent defense strategies, patent pools, innovation, and standards.  By invitation, she has testified before the FTC on the “Evolving IP Marketplace.”

Ms. Yen received her BS from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and her JD from UC Berkeley School of Law, Boalt Hall.

Magdalena is a founder of Broadway Angels and the founding board member and first investor of Salesforce. She served on the board of Salesforce from inception to post IPO. Magdalena has been active in Silicon Valley for three decades. Most recently, she spent eight years as a general partner at the venture capital firm US Venture Partners (USVP), making investments in a broad spectrum of technology startups. She has been an early investor in over 30 companies including theRealReal, PicsArt, Zuora, Socialcast (acquired by VMWare), Catch (acquired by Apple), Freshplum (acquired by TellApart and Twitter), Dotomi (acquired by ValueClick), 3Ware (acquired by AMCC), WebAction, Valicert (IPO), 128Technology, Securify (acquired by Kroll), iEscrow (acquired by eBay), and many others. Prior to her investing career, Magdalena was a serial entrepreneur, founding two successful electronic commerce companies, CyberCash – a pioneer in the secure electronic payment systems (IPO), and MarketPay, an embedded payments software company.

Magdalena was a pioneer in the commercialization of the Internet in its early days, helping it move out of the government and university domains and in establishing the infrastructure for e-commerce and financial transaction platforms. When her plan to purchase Internet access providers from universities would not get funded by venture capitalists, she joined UUnet (IPO), the first commercial Internet access provider. Magdalena was chosen Entrepreneur of the Year in 1997 by Red Herring magazine. She started her career as a semiconductor design engineer at Advanced Micro Devices.
